In a moment many are talking about, Democrat Senator Hirono asked Judge Amy Coney Barrett, whose children were sitting right behind her “Since you became a legal adult, have you ever made unwanted requests for sexual favors or committed any verbal or physical harassment or assault of a sexual nature?” Hirono had prefaced her question by saying “I asked each nominee these two questions, and I will ask them of you.”
Barrett replied “No, Senator Hirono,” Hirono then asked “Have you ever faced discipline or entered into a settlement related to this kind of conduct?”
Barrett again replied “No, Senator.”

Earlier in the day Barrett told Lindsey Graham “I don’t think it’s any secret to any of you or to the American people that this is a really difficult, some might say excruciating, process.”
“And Jesse and I had a very brief amount of time to make a decision with momentous consequences for our family. We knew that our lives would be combed over for any negative detail, we knew that our face would be a caricature and we knew our family would be attacked,” she added.
“I’ve tried to be on a media blackout for the sake of my mental health,” Barrett also joked.
